Zanthia Hastings is a Natural Servant Leader!

Zanthia Hastings and Team

Written by Heather Pluard

Serving others is at the heart of REALTOR® Zanthia Hastings’ business. She grew up on a 27-acre farm with her father, who was a Pastor, and her mother, who owned a beauty shop. Not a day went by that her parents didn’t demonstrate what it means to truly listen to people, work hard, and help make the world a little bit better for others. These lessons, deeply ingrained in Zanthia, make her a natural at real estate sales and customer service. But she took her career skills further, earning multiple professional designations and becoming a fierce advocate for her clients. Today, Zanthia is an award-winning REALTOR® who owns a highly successful team.

“Success is going to sleep every night knowing I’ve knocked out my three wins for the day and done everything that I can do to improve the lives of others,” Zanthia says. “In order to avoid burnout, it’s imperative to create a healthy work-life balance. Change is inevitable in real estate, so I encourage agents to embrace innovation. Get out of judgment and get into curiosity. My motto is: Nothing ever works. Something always does.”

For example, Zanthia once sent a batch of postcards to the wrong target market. The mistake led to an unexpected, half-a-million-dollar listing! “It was a miracle,” Zanthia smiles. “If I hadn’t sent anything, I never would have gotten that listing. But since then, I never send out my own postcards.”

After graduating from Winthrop University, Zanthia worked in Corporate America for a few years before deciding to stay home and raise her children—Aliyah (24), Alyssa (21), and Patrick (15). When an uncle encouraged Zanthia to explore real estate, she started taking classes in the evenings after her husband, Patrick, came home from work. “The Lord ordered my steps,” Zanthia says. “He put the right people in place to help me move toward a career I love. It felt natural, like I was serving people in my mom’s beauty shop or my daddy’s church.”

After her first year in the industry, Zanthia earned a trip to the NAR Convention. “It blew my mind,” Zanthia said. “That experience, combined with the mentorship of my brokers, opened my eyes to all that real estate could be.”

Development and industry-related volunteerism soon followed. Zanthia is a graduate of the CRRA leadership program and earned her Certified Residential Specialist (CRS), Graduate REALTOR® Institute (GRI), Short Sale and Foreclosure Resource (SFR), and Senior Real Estate Specialist (SRES). She has served on several committees and boards on the local, state, and national levels to help promote and protect the interest of the real estate community at large.

“My education and attainments offer a huge advantage to my clients, who reap the rewards of my elevated skill set,” she says. “There is constant change in real estate, and everyone deserves a knowledgeable and prepared REALTOR® who makes them feel valued and appreciated. We strive to create an overall phenomenal client experience.

Staying true to her core values, Zanthia has a 68% referral and repeat business rate and has won multiple awards over the past 17 years, including Remax’s 100% club (2003-2010), Platinum Club (2011-2015), Chairman Club (2016-2017), Titan Club (2018), and Diamond Club (2019-2020). Today she continues to lead her top producing team with Real Broker.

“My team is awesome,” Zanthia says. “We support each other well. It feels like a family, and we have so much fun. I offer a plug-and-play system with one-on-one coaching, tons of leads, daily training, and direct access to me. But it’s really their team. I select talent who are a good fit. They must be kind, professional, consistent, and willing to build lifelong relationships.”

Zanthia encourages REALTORS® to dedicate themselves to the profession by taking more education than required. “Show up for others the way you would want them to show up for you,” she says. “Price homes right so you don’t squander your clients’ wealth. We are helping real people with real lives, and their future hinges on agents being prepared to help them and their families. There’s nothing wrong with making money, but never put making money ahead of people. The money will come when you treat people right.”

Treating the community well is also essential. Zanthia volunteers through her church at various kitchens across the city and is passionate about serving as a mentor for Answer, an organization that helps mothers who are full-time students. “I give back in every way that I can, and my goal is to have enough time to give even more,” Zanthia says. “The Charlotte community has embraced me from the beginning, and I owe them so much for how good they’ve been to me through real estate. I was also fortunate to have such wonderful parents who taught me to love people, and I enjoy being a servant leader today through real estate. People are waiting for us to show up. And when we show up prepared, that’s when the magic happens.”
