“People helping people” is Mary Ann Stallings’s guiding business principle and life philosophy. After spending 20 years in the credit union industry, she joined Jet Direct Mortgage as a loan officer in 2019. Today, Mary Ann enjoys using her financial savvy to facilitate the homeownership dreams of countless happy clients.
Respected for her industry knowledge and willingness to share it, Mary Ann loves helping clients achieve their goals. “From the first conversation, I explain the financial process and set the expectations to make it as stress-free as possible for clients,” she says. “I am also in frequent communication. If someone needs a little extra attention, such as a first-time home buyer, I will patiently work with them every step of the way. I have a special place in my heart for those folks who have experienced credit challenges and didn’t think they’d ever be able to purchase their first home. If I played a part in guiding them through the process, it’s hard to get more fulfilling than that.”
When REALTORS® refer their clients to Mary Ann, she considers herself an extension of their reputation. “I want my top-notch service to reflect well on them,” she says. “I stay in constant communication with the REALTOR®, and I work efficiently with their buyers to get that pre-approval as quickly as possible. Occasionally, a buyer has credit challenges beyond what will allow for approval. If that happens, my answer is never simply, ‘No, I can’t do a loan for you.’ Instead, I’ll always take the approach of ‘Let’s see what steps you need to take so that we can get you to an approval.’ Regardless of their budgets, I treat all of my borrowers with the same respect, focus, and attention to detail they all deserve.”
Jet Direct Mortgage believes in putting people first, too. “Our focus is ‘people over profits,'” Mary Ann explains. “We are successful because our priority is making decisions that are best for our borrowers. In addition, we have innovative services that set us apart in the industry, like a Mobile App that can be co-branded with REALTOR® information. Borrowers can complete an application and scan documents automatically converted to a PDF and securely uploaded directly to the loan application, all from a mobile phone. It makes the process easy for the borrower and allows us to issue pre-approvals quickly while keeping our real estate partners updated at every stage.”
For clients looking for renovation loans, Jet Direct Mortgage has an entire department dedicated to managing all the details of 203(k) and HomeStyle loans. “The way these loans work is the amount available for a loan is based on what the home’s value will be after the renovations are complete, not the current ‘as is’ value,” Mary Ann explains. “This is an excellent tool for REALTORS® to incorporate into their plans for listing properties that may require significant repairs or as a means to expand the options available to their buyers during times of low inventory.”
Outside of work, Mary Ann loves spending time with her family. “My father was the youngest of 11, so any time I can spend with my large extended family is treasured,” she says. “I also have four nephews I love to spoil. My husband and I enjoy traveling and exploring areas together. We’re a little old school because we still like to get the AAA Travel guidebooks and look for obscure historical or ‘must-see’ attractions wherever we visit. I also enjoy cooking. My husband teases that he married me for my Lemon Icebox Pie. I’m happy to share my secret recipe if you call me!”
