Jules King Brings Hustle & Heart to Real Estate!

Five years ago, REALTOR® Jules King started her first business and opened NextHome Choice Realty in Charlotte. Wow’d by the NextHome leadership team and confident the franchise would crush it, Jules launched in 2016 and rapidly grew her agency. Today, she’s introducing the market to a new luxury brand, Casan Collection by NextHome.
“At the core of our organization is a mindset, a movement, a phrase we like to use that saves us from losing sight of why we’re in this profession to begin with: ‘Humans over Houses,'” Jules explains. “We are for the people, our clients, our community, and our fellow NextHomies. iBuying will not change who we are in our market. We are keeping people and relationships alive in the real estate game and providing the outstanding service that luxury clients expect, and every client deserves.”
Born in Durban, South Africa, Jules worked as a corporate consultant selling health club memberships to companies before switching back to special education and working with children on the Autism spectrum. In 2000, she got married and moved to Ireland, where she had three children and became a full-time mom. In 2009, the family moved to the states, and the next year Jules obtained her real estate license.
“I always wanted to grow my own client base and build something for myself,” Jules says. “As my children grew older, I decided to put my all into independently growing my business. I researched agencies online, and that was when I came across this new franchise, NextHome, based out of California. It had everything I was looking for in terms of tools to succeed; unique branding, innovative processes, and forward-thinking technology to help me achieve my dream of opening my own business.”
As the first NextHome agency in Charlotte, it was up to Jules to get the brand established. “There was no hesitation at all,” she says. “I was the 85th office to open in the states, and I jumped right in. There are now 500 offices nationwide, and NextHome was voted Best Franchise in Real Estate two years running. We are a boutique firm that prides itself on making every client feel like they are the only one. And our collaborative culture sets us apart. When you get one of us, you get all of us!”
While collaborative, NextHome Choice Realty highly values authenticity. “Your authentic self is why people use you to represent them in any real estate sale or purchase,” Jules says. “Agents should be that and nothing else. People use the REALTORS® they know, like, and trust. If you are all these things to your sphere, they will be your lifelong clients. Success is getting those clients that call you over and over again saying, ‘Here is a friend/daughter/son/mother/father who’s looking to buy or sell. Can you be their agent? Because there is no one else whom I trust with my people.’ I’m proud to say that’s 90% of my business.”
Moving forward, Jules plans to grow the agency organically, adding a few more hardworking agents and many more amazing clients. “Since the pandemic, we have had the craziest market,” she says. “Sellers are getting more than they could imagine for their homes, and our buyers are in multiple bids on every property. Our market skills and concierge service are getting our clients into their dream homes as stress-free as possible, and we love seeing their big, happy smiles.”
NextHome Choice Realty loves making the community smile, too. “Our mascot, Luke, is a French Bulldog and the world’s best brand ambassador,” Jules says. “He’s a loyal companion who stands by our signs and adds emotion to our brand. Everyone loves Luke! And to show our love for him, we support Canine Companions for Independence, an organization that trains and matches dogs with people who need service animals. Canine Companions for Independence touches more than 5 million people’s lives each year. I also support theatre and arts for our youth, and I’m a volunteer on the Board for the Mooresville Community Children’s Theatre.”
Known for being a genuine, loyal, and transparent REALTOR®, Jules has a generous heart and works hard for everyone. “What you see is what you get,” she smiles. “I am passionate about my clients and building relationships that go beyond the closing table. I’m happy to announce we will resume our client appreciation gatherings next month. Our clients make us who we are in this industry, and we feel it’s important to thank them for trusting us with their biggest asset. I’m also grateful for all of my incredible NextHome Choice Realty agents. We focus on doing the right thing, educating clients, and managing expectations. And I’d like to thank my assistant, Kim Lioy, who has been my rock since the beginning. She is awesome!”
Excited to see her first business venture grow into such a huge success, Jules says it wasn’t always smooth-sailing. There were some painful lessons she had to learn and challenges she had to overcome along the way. Today, she has excellent advice for other real estate entrepreneurs, “Love on people and bless them the way you are blessed,” Jules says. “And always wake with a grateful heart. My faith in my Creator puts me in a position of His power, and I pray every day that He continues to light my path.”
