Talk about being born to do something! Landon graduated high school in three years and jumped into his heart’s focus of serving real estate clients.
With a career volume of $45 million, Landon is undoubtedly in the career he was meant to do. Currently, his year-to-date volume with homes closed and pending is $10 million and growing. Most recently, Landon has won “Top Buyer’s Agent” for the Stephen Cooley Agency 2020.
Looking back, Landon recalls, “When I was in high school, I was very entrepreneurial and always knew I wanted to do something that wasn’t the typical path. I graduated high school in three years instead of four and went straight into real estate. I took my real estate classes when I was 17, but after I finished, I had to wait to turn 18 to take my real estate test because you can’t take the state test until you turn 18. I sat for the real estate test on my 18th birthday and passed on my first try.”
Landon plans on being involved in real estate FOREVER. His roots are in the Greater Charlotte area, and he loves giving his clients expert advice.
Albrick tells us, “When I was 17, I started working for the #1 team in my area (Stephen Cooley Real Estate Group). I started as an admin assistant, and they waited for me to turn 18 to obtain my real estate license. That first year I sold 26 properties for about $6.5 million in volume. In my second year, I sold 55 properties and bought my first investment property at 19 years old. Later that year, I also bought a duplex. I have always wanted to buy investment property and was so excited to finally get my feet wet in that area.” Landon now owns seven rental units and plans to buy more.
Mentors are critical in the real estate industry, and connecting with those in the industry was pivotal for Albrick. He did not have any family or friends in the industry, so he sought out leaders in real estate to pick their brains. One of Landon’s early contacts was Stephen Cooley. Cooley was instrumental in welcoming Albrick into the fold and getting his feet wet in the industry. “Stephen has set the example for what success looks like in the industry,” Landon tells us. “Stephen took me under his wing when I was 17. He believed in me. Another mentor of mine is Pam Morrell. She has been a top agent in the business for 42 years.”
Although Albrick makes his success look easy, he put in a lot of hard work – his first closing resulted from cold calling. Working late into the night, Landon followed up on a “dead leads list” left in the office by a previous agent. With no one looking into this list as it was deemed unfruitful, Landon gave these potential customers one more call…and he landed a listing appointment!
Landon’s obstacle in real estate has not been the hard work, but a superficial one of his age. He shares, “I sold my first 30 properties when I was 18, and when I started, being young was something I had to overcome by being extremely knowledgeable. I had a lot of limiting beliefs about being and looking so young and not having a college degree or any family in the business. I just put my head down and worked hard and overcame looking/being young by reading and learning more about the industry than others.”
Albrick’s passion in his business is his clients. With over 170 transactions under his belt, he loves sharing his expertise. He knows there are many things in a real estate transaction that can go wrong, but Landon calls upon his experience to make sure things go as smoothly as possible for each client.
In closing, Landon shares, “If there’s anything I want people to know that I think a lot of people don’t fully grasp is that life is malleable. No matter how you grew up, what you were born into, and what disadvantages you think you have, you can change your life for the better. And that starts with gaining knowledge in what you want to do, hyper-focusing, and working hard.”
