Known for being “small but mighty,” Jessica Babington most definitely brings a fire and blazes a trail wherever she goes. This energy has served her well in life, most recently with her position with Trump International Realty. And while there is a great deal of work going on behind the scenes to create this success, at the surface, Jessica’s talent lies in making it all look simple.
“My definition of success? It’s an ongoing process, not a destination,” she explains. “In this business, any time you can help someone get to the closing table, it’s a success.”
A proud graduate of the University of Georgia, Jessica found her love for networking and the importance of team-building early on in life. Once out of college, she was a reinsurance broker for a small international firm where the spark of being a broker was ignited. “I loved being an advocate for my clients, crafting deals, and watching people come together,” she remembers. A few years later a position
with her father’s biotech firm led her to Cornelius, which is where she fell in love with Lake Norman and the local real estate market.
Fast-forward to six years ago, when Jessica obtained her real estate
license. She found a home with a small firm and experienced the team environment, but it was short-lived; once the team moved to a large firm, it no longer suited her style. “It just wasn’t my thing,” she says, with a non-judgmental shrug.
Jessica has most definitely found “her thing” with Trump International Realty as of three-and-a-half years ago – and, now, is a practicing BIC for over a year with the prestigious firm. Along with those responsibilities, she is heavily involved in the team’s recruiting, mentoring, and training programs.
“There are five of us on the team right now,” she says. “It’s about having the right people around you, and not growing for the sake of growth, but making sure it’s right.”
Meghan Paulino-Alban, Office Manager at Trump International, adds: “Jessica is always working, but not in a way that she’s a ‘workaholic.’ She makes connections not to make a sale but because she genuinely cares. Also, she doesn’t do something halfway; if she does something, she wants to do it right. And she’s always honest and transparent with clients.”
Jessica is grateful to be so highly regarded by her team and is quick to add: “Meghan is the glue.” As the two joke that Meghan’s title could be “Office Manager/All Other Things Specialist,” the synergy and ease between them is both obvious and endearing. The exchange offers a cheerful glimpse into the overall vibe of the team.
It certainly doesn’t hurt that the office is on the grounds of the Trump National Golf Club Charlotte. “We could not ask for a more ideal setting. But,” she’s quick to point out, “we don’t take it too seriously – we have popcorn, music, chocolate, and there’s lots of singing involved.”
When it comes to clients and culture, she again makes it clear and simple: “With the way real estate is becoming more technology-focused, our main goal is to provide our clients with the absolute best level of service.”
These days Jessica helps solidify superior levels of service by mentoring agents. “I offer one-on-one meetings, provide education, but, most importantly, I make myself available,” she says, proudly. “My main goal is to make the lives of our agents easier and let them know they are supported, both locally and from our firstclass team in New York.”
Support goes a long way, as Jessica knows firsthand. Her two major influencers are her dad, thanks to his stellar business skills, and former Trump International Realty Charlotte BIC Jodie Widaseck, who is now the Managing Director of all of Trump International
Realty. “She’s an inspiration, and she truly cares,” says Jessica. “She is the best leader that I have ever been around. She introduced me to the niche luxury real estate market through her outstanding mentorship.”
Jessica shares the story of Jodie’s promotion: She won a sales award where she had the opportunity to have dinner with Eric Trump, and over dinner she shared her ideas for the firm. “She had the guts to share her aspirations for the future. And it paid off: They promoted her on the spot.” It’s clear that trailblazers are a common theme at Trump International Realty.
Jessica certainly brings her all to the office and to closing tables, but, interestingly enough, her motivation has philanthropic roots: She focuses a great deal of her energy on giving back. “I sponsor a PTSD service dog through a local charity called Patriot Military Family Foundation,” she shares. “I put a portion from each closing toward a service dog, who is trained and paired with a local veteran suffering from PTSD.” This profound gesture also helps Jessica stay motivated. “I had no clue how awesome it would be,” she says. “When you take the focus off of hitting a numerical goal, it’s amazing how your drive shifts.” She continues: “With work like this, you have to want to help in your gut. If you’re in it only for the sales, you’ll burn out.”Jessica is also on the Board of Directors for Girls on the Run, a local organization helping lay the groundwork for strong, healthy, independent girls ages third through eighth grade.
It was four years ago when Jessica and her husband, Joe, invested in their own piece of real estate – a beautiful, private home in Mooresville. “It’s so nice to come home here at the end of the day,” she says. “Your shoulders drop, and you instantly relax. It’s very peaceful.”
Although Jessica calls Charlotte home, she will always be a Georgia
girl at heart. This is evident in her involvement in the local “University of Georgia Charlotte Alumni group,” where local fans gather to watch games, meet for happy hours, and participate in philanthropy work. (You can find the group on their Facebook page: “University of Georgia Charlotte Area Alumni and Friends.”)
Although this fearless leader has “tried every sport,” from figure skating to skiing, she and her husband can now be found kicking back as members of Freedom Boat Club, Lake Norman. The pair also loves traveling, entertaining, and spending time with their two rescue dogs: Sasha, a lab/ boxer mix, and Stella, a rat terrier.
As for the future of the Trump International Realty office, Jessica hopes to add more agents to the family. The right agent will be collaborative, supportive of the team, and will thrive in celebrating each other’s successes. “That’s one of the best things about working for us,” says Jessica. “It’s more about doing it right than how many deals you close.”
