Jennifer Vick Brings a Philanthropist Approach to Life — and Real Estate.

Perseverance, Honesty, Caring. Jennifer Vick teaches character traits like these to local school children once a month. They’re also the foundation of her top-producing real estate team, Jennifer Vick & Company. As a former second-grade teacher, Jennifer appreciates numbers, but they aren’t the most critical piece of her successful business — Integrity is.

“I love making people happy and feeling good about the job I’ve done,” she says. “I think the fortune is in the follow-up with every connection we make. First, you need to truly care. My team and I build relationships and are there for whatever our clients may need, even if it’s a year or two before they’re ready to sell. We help every step of the way. Our goal is to be a one-stop-shop for all of our clients’ real estate needs.”

Checklists help. After teaching elementary education in Charlotte Mecklenburg schools for more than seven years, Jennifer brought a love of schedules, structure, and adaptability to her new career. “I love a good timeline,” she says. “It’s almost like creating a lesson plan. We let our clients know exactly what to expect throughout the process, from preparing to sell to closing on a property. We set dates and give ourselves room to pivot as needed with schedule changes.”

This approach helped Jennifer Vick & Company sell almost $30-million last year, and landed them a spot on the Top 20 list of all Keller Williams agents in North and South Carolina. They are frequently in the Top Ten list at their Keller Williams Charlotte Ballantyne office — which happens to be the #1 Keller Williams office in the world.

“We connect the dots in real estate for our clients while providing top-notch customer service,” Jennifer says. “Our team of four agents and two assistants are a highly-skilled group of specialized professionals. We all have one thing we work on while keeping our clients’ goals as the top priority. It’s a true culture of people who care, both for our clients and each other. Everyone is willing to step in and help out when needed.”

Having such a phenomenal team helps Jennifer have work/life balance. “Success to me is having a great career while also having a great life. Working moms need to find balance. Our team fills in the gaps for each other to take real vacations and have quality family time. I’m able to focus on listings and our team’s growth, giving me more leverage and the ability to manage my schedule so I can be there for my two young daughters, Abbie and Cate. Part of the reason I got into real estate was to show them you can be a fantastic mom and have a fantastic career, too.”

Another reason Jennifer loves real estate is that it allows her to be creative. “I got out of teaching because it became so test-based that it didn’t allow for as much creativity and fun anymore,” she says. “Plus, I wanted more flexibility in my schedule. I discovered that real estate was the right career move after marrying my husband, Will, and buying our first home. I used to design floorplans and neighborhoods for my parents as a child, so in a way, it was like circling back to my first love. Plus, I just loved the process from start to finish! I started taking real estate classes over the summer after getting married and obtained my license in 2007.”

Since 2013, Jennifer has been with Keller Williams Ballantyne. “I’ve worked for three different firms in my career, and I learned a lot from each. My current office is full of humble, high achievers who are happy to share their trade secrets to help each other grow. It’s the most open group of people I know, and it feels like a family.”

In the last three years, Jennifer has merged three other agents’ businesses into Jennifer Vick & Company. “When the agents moved out of town or pursued other careers, we took on their databases following the guidance of the book, The Golden Handoff. I’m proud they trusted our team to service their local clients through a referral-based business, and I’m looking forward to helping other agents in the same way.”

Outside of work, Jennifer loves to read and spend time with friends and family. She often volunteers at her daughters’ schools, has taught Sunday School, and gives a portion of every commission to nonprofits that focus on children in our community, including A Child’s Place and Families Forward. For her next character education class, Jennifer could easily teach a course on philanthropy. “Helping in itself is a reward,” she says. “It’s my ultimate goal to take care of people without ever expecting an outcome.”
