Darryl Gaines is Efficient, Caring, and A Valuable Asset to His Clients!
Written by Allison Parker
When I first spoke with Darryl Gaines, he just finished following up with a client on a listing appointment. Traveling up to Statesville on a rainy morning to meet with a customer, Darryl was quick to note it’s just part of his daily functions as one of Charlotte’s up and coming real estate agents.
When I asked Darryl what allowed him to hit the ground running on his switch from IT/Project Management, he replied, “Caring. People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care. This has allowed me to develop relationships beyond the transaction that have evolved into a fabulous network of referrals.”
To further understand Darryl’s transition into real estate, he explains, “I was in the IT field for 20 years and never felt as though my work made a difference. I received many accolades throughout my career but never felt as though it personally affected anyone. I know it may sound cliché, but I truly enjoy the fact that I can see the difference I make in people’s lives by helping them achieve homeownership—whether it be a first-time home buyer getting their very first home or someone on their third or fourth. home. It makes me feel good when I’m able to assist them in that process.”
With his dedication and effort, Darryl made significant strides in his real estate endeavors. Receiving his license in 2019, he has been a solo agent at Keller Williams for the past two years. With last year’s volume of 6 million, Darryl is continually moving forward in a positive direction with his clients.
When asked if there was anyone who impacted his career trajectory, Darryl beams about his previous productivity coach, Tara Ganesh:
“To hear Tara’s story of how she started in the business only six years ago and to see where she is now is definitely inspiring to me. To be a mother with three kids, move to a city where she knew no one, and to build her business from the ground up, Tara showed me that if you put the work in, the rewards will come.”
Darryl is one to make adjustments to his efforts as well as times dictate. Working within the confines of COVID-19, he remembers being creative, taking a fold-up table and chairs in his pick-up truck and meet clients in open areas like parking lots—anything to accommodate clients during such an unprecedented time. Darryl always keeps masks, booties, hand sanitizers, etc. in his vehicle so he is prepared to offer them to clients if needed. Putting safety and care first is always at the forefront of Darryl’s mind as he guides buyers through the sometimes wavy ride to homeownership.
Darryl is one who can attest to the theory of doing what you love, and success will come. He made a daunting change after 20 years in IT and has driven himself to new heights of success as a REALTOR® with Keller Williams. He sums it up, noting, “With real estate, I know that I’ve made a difference in someone’s life. When I was in corporate America, no matter how hard I worked, someone else always had control of how far I could go in my career. Real estate removed that ceiling for me. The harder I work in this career, the more I’m able to achieve.”
