Check out our June Rising Star Cackie Morrow!
At home in the Eastover office of Dickens Mitchener & Associates, as well as in her Myers Park condo, Catherine “Cackie” Morrow is the essence of authentic Charlotte hospitality. Meeting for the first time, there is an instant feeling of welcome as if stopping to see an old friend. She envelopes the interview process like we are chatting about favorite pastimes. Having been raised in the Myers Park area of Charlotte, Cackie is easily able to merge her upbringing into her current career as a real estate agent. It’s clear she is well versed in all that Charlotte has to offer for each and every buyer, and is very excited to share her passion! Cackie’s passion for real estate started right out of college. After graduating from the University of Alabama, Cackie was recruited on campus for a position with a company that managed the popular complex Philips Place in the Southpark area. Cackie remembers: “I moved straight back to my hometown right after college and started working as a leasing agent.”
Reflecting on that beginning phase in her career, she considers it a pathway which led to other opportunities within Charlotte real estate. “When I worked as a leasing consultant, I was trained to sell one product. The product was the apartments available, in the correct price range, and during the client’s desired timeframe. My job was to sell these and these only, although it was frustrating knowing there could be better housing alternatives for these customers. Knowing Charlotte so well, and everything fabulous it has to offer, I knew the best thing I could do was find a way to service ALL of these people. This led me to get my license,” she says. “Whether it is someone looking for an apartment, single-family rental, furnished short-term lease, corporate rental, town home to buy in South End, condo uptown, or house in Myers Park, I wanted to be able to help them all!”
While managing a 50-plus hour work week, Cackie prepared for her real estate exam. After passing with flying colors, she was elated to move into the next phase of her career. With license in hand, Cackie and her partner, Courtenay, are with the prestigious firm of Dickens Mitchener. She enjoys being part of an organization that supports each other like family. With a career volume of just under $25 million within her three years as an agent, Cackie is emanating her passion for her birth city by helping others find their home here as well. She credits the team at Dickens Mitchener for the support in her career choice, particularly Catherine Pappas, relocation director and close family friend. Cackie’s mother also works within the team in the referral area. The close-knit bunch make each day extraordinary by helping each other as much as they can as well as by serving others. Relationships are fundamental to Cackie’s success. Her Southern charm “Cackie landed a position with MECA Realty. “At MECA, I was able to team up with my now business partner, Courtenay McDowell Saunders. We have been able to be EVEN more successful together and have sold over 70 homes since our partnership started!”
Cackie’s heart is filled with love for her hometown of Charlotte. When asked why she loves real estate in the area so much, she shares, “I wanted to get to know everything there was to know about the city where I grew up, and where my parents and grandparents grew up. I like change, new trends, and learning to adapt to different markets. Real estate offers the versatility that I crave. I love to socialize, and I thrive when meeting new people and working with different personalities. It makes my job that much more exciting.”

Relationships are fundamental to Cackie’s success. Her Southern charm and hospitality make her an asset to each client she helps in finding their dream home and each agent that she teams up with during the process. She makes it a point to include everyone as a member of her team, including home inspectors, other agents, and loan officers in the home buying and selling process. Great minds think alike and stick together!
Cackie has maintained lifelong friendships including one with local loan officer, Christina Mauney. Christina is a Senior Loan Officer at American Security Mortgage in Charlotte. Both raised in Charlotte, the ladies met during their middle school years when Cackie attended the Charlotte Country Day School and Christina was a student at the Providence Day School. While Cackie went to the University of Alabama and Christina attended the University of Georgia, the girls kept up their friendship and were even roommates after college. Their zest and savvy at working with people make them a dynamic duo both personally and professionally. Lifelong connections are a strong point for Cackie.
When asked about her first listing, it is no surprise that it was in a neighborhood dear to her roots: Dilworth. Cackie gained the confidence of her first clients by securing a $1.2-million listing! Always known to be trustworthy and reliable, Cackie had babysat as a teenager for the listing client’s children. The level of established trust in the relationship precluded anything related to real estate. For Cackie, it was an excellent way to help her family friends as well as share her passion for selling homes.
Over the past three years, Cackie’s knowledge of the Queen City and surrounding areas has led her to many exciting adventures. One of the most interesting escapades was a feature on the HGTV show, House Hunters. Who better than a local Charlottean to help an out-of-state client from California find their home (The show aired in November 2016 and can still be accessed in the archives listings.) A tidbit that Cackie shared is that before the show, she had shown the client over 15 homes in the area. The client was a famed horticulturist who had worked for Disneyland in California and was relocating to Charlotte to work with the golf course at Quail Hollow. The show narrows down the choices for timing after the buyer has already made their selection. The culmination of the search was a beautiful home in Tega Cay on Lake Wylie.
When not showcasing fabulous homes or helping buyers find their new addresses, Cackie is a genuine Southern woman who loves spending time with her family and friends. She is excited about renovating her new condo and making it her own through adding personalized special touches. Very happy that many of her family and friends are nearby in Madison Park and South End, Cackie spends a lot of time visiting and meeting friends in the area. She has two cute dogs, and loves walking and playing with them in the tree-lined streets and parks within the city. Whether business or personal, Cackie is sure to make every client feel welcome. Her instinctual, engaging manner make her one of the best real estate agents to help clients list or buy within the Charlotte area.
