Charlotte, North Carolina, has long been a melting pot of people and ideas. In recent years, the growth of the Queen City has increased rapidly, and with that, the thousands of people who’ve moved into town have continued to add to the diversity of the City.
The local Asian population has blossomed over the last decade into a thriving community, and now, with that immense growth, the First Chapter of the Asian Real Estate Association of America in the Carolinas will be founded right here in Charlotte!
Founded in 2003, the Asian American Real Estate Association of America (AREAA) is a national nonprofit trade organization dedicated to improving the lives of the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities through homeownership. AREAA’s mission is to promote sustainable homeownership opportunities in Asian American communities by creating a powerful national voice for housing and real estate professionals that serve this dynamic market.
AREAA has over 40 chapters across the US and Canada, with over 17,000 real estate professionals who have invested in an AREAA membership. The Charlotte Metro Chapter has officially been established as the 42nd Chapter!
Rachel Chen, the Founding President of the Charlotte Metro Chapter, was an avid follower of the AREAA National organization and took the lead to assemble a team of dedicated real estate professionals to form the Founding Board of Directors.
The founding board members are remarkably diverse and talented professionals dedicated to helping educate and serve the Asian Community in Charlotte and help grow the Charlotte Metro Chapter. Our board members come from seven different ethnic backgrounds, speak six different languages, and serve their communities in multiple ways.
Nick Macri, Joe Nguyen, Kiran Patel, Yomesh Deliwala, Rachel Chen, and Doug Sutherland are North Carolina Licensed Real Estate Professionals and Investors serving Residential and Commercial clientele in the Greater Charlotte and Lake Norman Metro Area.
Michelle Houston is a Real Estate Attorney in the Ballantyne Area, Polly Outhay is a Financial Services expert advisor, and Bill Nethery is a Licensed Loan Officer.
The Charlotte Metro AREAA board’s mission is to educate and serve Charlotte’s growing Asian community by providing access to resources, training, and events that will support the growth of Asian homeownership in and around Charlotte.
According to US census data, as of July 2019, in Mecklenburg County, around 70,000 AAPI people were living in the area (about 6.4%). The general homeownership rate in that area is approximately 42%, and AAPI’s homeownership rate is 50%—meaning there are around 35,000 Asian American homeowners that can benefit from the local Chapter.
As an AREAA member, you’ll instantly grow your network, your business, and friendships with professionals across the country. Local AREAA chapters and the AREAA national organization also host several events throughout the year to help build your network, knowledge, and professional development.
If you are interested in joining our Charlotte Metro Chapter, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org. You do NOT have to be an Asian American to join us; you just need the passion to expand your clientele and better serve current and prospective Asian American real estate owners!
We look forward to serving our community together!
