Check out Sponsor Spotlight Paul Eiden with Home Loans By Paul, Mortgage Loan Officer, NMLS ID #: 442231with McLean Mortgage Corporation! He has an eye for detail and a passion for the outdoors (and his pup!).
Whether you’re in the mood to partake in outdoor activities at the Whitewater Center, hear some live music, or catch a beer at one of the many microbrews in the Charlotte area, you may bump into Paul Eiden.
Paul loves enjoying the sunshine whether on an energizing run or an exploratory walk with his new pup, Lander. Even washing his car is a favorite pastime in the beautiful weather. Paul’s amazing personality is two-fold, with a keen sense for the big picture as well as the innate details.
Paul’s sense of structure and precision add polish and finesse to his career in lending. Getting a loan “locked” and ready for his fabulous clients is a top priority for Paul as Senior Loan Officer at McLean Mortgage Corporation (MMC) AKA “Home Loans by Paul.” McLean Mortgage Corporation is a correspondent lender with headquarters in Fairfax, Virginia. Paul’s ability to shop the best possible interest rates while at the same time process, underwrite, and close his clients’ loans are the “One Stop Shop” attributes that make MMC an excellent choice for his clients. After his client finds the home of their dreams, the rest of the process, such as the loan, should and will be as streamlined as possible with the system Home Loans by Paul has in place at McLean Mortgage Corporation.
Originally from Northern Virginia, Paul attended college there at Radford University. He graduated in 2008 with a degree in communications and marketing. The year 2008 was a difficult time for new college graduates seeking employment. Paul was fortunate and found a career in banking with a small community size bank as a management trainee.
During his three and a half years in retail banking, Paul got a taste for the lending side of the banking business. “I started to develop a strong interest in mortgage lending as it was a topic of discussion that repeatedly came up with my bank customers,” remembers Paul. “Back then, as a retail banker, if a bank customer inquired about a mortgage, we’d jot down some basic info and get them connected with our in-house mortgage person. The more comfortable I got talking about mortgages, the more I wanted to pursue it as a career.”
As luck would have it, Paul was contacted by a family friend about a loan officer assistant opportunity. “It was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up. It was at this time that I took in every bit of knowledge I could about the fundamentals of mortgages and how they tie into the home buying and/or refinance process. What I wasn’t learning at the office, I was learning at home on the web or via hard copy books during my free time.”
The move into lending would take Paul into a new career and a leap into a whole new city and state. Five years ago, Paul was brazen in his relocation to Charlotte, NC. He had lived 28 years in Northern Virginia, and he had no personal connections other than his brother and his sister-in-law in the Queen City
Looking back on his actions, Paul reflects, “Doing something like this was completely out of my comfort zone, but post-college, I always had the itch to get out of Northern VA as I went into this BIG decision with the mentality of YOLO (you only live once).
Since relocating to Charlotte, it’s taken a lot of hard work and perseverance to get where I am today in my career; however, there’s been no looking back. On a related note, Home Loans by Paul at MMC would not be what it is today without my referral partners, clients, and awesome support staff.”
Transitioning to a loan officer role is tough as it is a “sink or swim” business —especially when you’re new to an area without a solid sphere of referrals. Paul attributes his success in making it initially to his go-getter work mentality. He prides himself on staying true to his favorite mottos: “If you are persistent, you will get it. If you are consistent, you will keep it,” and “Always keep one foot in the past, your head in the present, and your eyes to the future.”
Paul’s credos and McLean’s core value traits emphasize:
Character and Integrity
Accountability and Respect
Not Your Traditional Mortgage Company
Paul’s focus on his clients and business partners never waivers. Slogans such “You’ve got a friend in the business,” “#BetterCallPaul,” and “Lending as it should be” are more than just words.
Licensed in NC, SC, VA, and Washington D.C., Paul has over six years in the mortgage industry and over 300 closed transactions. His stellar service has earned him 115 FIVE STAR personal Zillow reviews and more pour in as we go to print. Here is one satisfied customer’s review:
“Paul actually communicates with his clients, imagine that! He is so focused and on top of things, I have never had a smoother closing in 20 years of real estate, and that’s the truth. You really need to use this man! Cannot say enough good things. The best!”
When asked if there was anything to share with his clients and valued business partners such as Realtors, he states his understanding and passion: “Time is of the essence in Real Estate. Therefore my team and I make ourselves available 24/7 to our Realtor Partners and clients so that a real estate opportunity isn’t missed. As your Lender, it’s my goal to ensure communication is continuous with all corresponding parties to prevent any unknowns that could potentially impede closing. I’m easily accessible in all forms of communication, via phone, email, mobile app, social media, etc.”
Working with a great company such as MMC, Home Loans by Paul can provide all the programs such as Conventional, FHA, VA, USDA, ARM, Jumbo, Construction, and Grant Program loan products as well as offer low lender fees such as a flat commitment fee of $900. (A plus is that this fee is waived for VA clients.) MMC is not limited to one source of products or pricing, which enables them to find the right solution for Realtor® referred leads. Focusing only on mortgages, MMC can provide fast turnaround times on pre-approvals and 30-day closings.
Meeting new folks comes easily to Paul as he is out and about whenever possible. He loves to plan events with referral partners as well. He enjoys fortifying relationships — one such endeavor is the Dilworth South community, which is a compilation of three architecturally distinct residence types: 10 single-family homes, a four-unit quadraplex, and a 48-unit condominium.
When not out closing loans and working with clients, Paul loves being in Charlotte and enjoying all the city has to offer as well as spending time with family.
“EidenFest” is a popular event that Paul enjoys with his loving extended family. Once or twice a year at his parent’s house in Holden Beach, everyone gets together to catch up and relax. There’s even a theme some years that is very cool and catchy. The most recent of them was “Yacht Rock,” which had everyone dressing up and jamming out. “Yacht Rock” can be described as 70s and 80s jam bands in the spirit of Hall & Oates and the like. Brothers JJ, Joe, Michael, Matt, and Paul all sported festive shirts and costumes and enjoyed the musical theme. They even saved the “beards” to shave into mustaches for the event!
Whether engaging customers in a first-time home purchase or refinancing, Paul’s attention to detail and white glove service are keys to his success. “To me, success is when you pursue something in life that challenges you while at the same time you enjoy. The end result is to be good at that something in which success then follows.”
